SEEK (Safe Environment For Every Kid) offers a practical, evidence-based approach to help primary care providers address targeted risk factors for child maltreatment for families with children aged 0-5 years.
The goal is to identify risk factors among parents as early as possible (during pregnancy and/or well-baby visits) and provide referrals for local resources. SEEK aims to strengthen families, support parents and promote children's health, development and safety. This ultimately helps reduce child maltreatment and neglect.
Our partners, MyMichigan Health and MidMichigan Ob/Gyn, currently provide SEEK for all parents of children ages 0-5 years old.
Midland Kids First in collaboration with Community Mental Health of Central Michigan, Partners In Change Psychological and Community Services, and J&A Counseling and Evaluation Services, provides evidence-based cognitive therapy and developmental asset building interventions that help at-risk youth manage their disorders.

The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is an evidence-based family skills training program for high-risk and general population families that is recognized both nationally and internationally. Parents and youth attend weekly SFP skills classes together, learning parenting skills and youth life and refusal skills. They have separate class training for parents and youth the first hour, followed by a joint family practice session the second hour.
This 15 week program is offered twice a year for youth and their families in Monarch Academy.
